WIP transnational Co-operation has intended to focus very much on communication and awareness raising actions since the problem of gender communication concerns, first of all, prejudices and limitations within the very basic mean of human relations, that is language and, then, in general, ways of communicating gender diversity in the social and working life.

For this reason, within the transnational work plan, DPs participating have defined their common roles, tasks and responsibilities in carrying out communication and awareness raising actions for conveying the importance of harmony and synergy among the genders.

In the activity 2 and 4 of the TCA ; “Awareness raising” and “Diffusion and Mainstreaming”, DPs have confirmed their intention to work strategically on communication in order to reach the following objectives :

  • Ob. A : Raising public opinion’s awareness about a new concept of Equal Opportunities through social communication and actions.
     
  • Ob. B. : Provoking an impact on gender, social and employment policy at local, national and international level thanks to different tools, especially communication ;

With reference to these objectives, partners have shared and stated the aim of raising public opinion’s awareness about the issues of gender management, conciliation, gender mainstreaming, Equal Opportunities. So they decided to develop social communication product/s (audio visual product(s), press campaigns) that, from one hand, could mirror the specific needs of communication of each national project and, from the other hand, could be the way of conceiving new ideas about the gender diversity, new perspectives on female resources and a new understanding of the meaning “Equal Opportunities”.

In fact, starting from the very basic meaning of Equal Opportunities between men and women in society and in the job places, partners have deepen equality issues by focussing of the fact that it was necessary to convey new attitudes and behaviours in order to change people’ s mind and promote in them the treating of anyone with fairness irrespective of sex, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, race, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, belief, sexual orientation, domestic circumstances, trade union membership, social or employment status.

In this regard, a brainstorming session among the partners had took place during the first meeting in Naples on July 2005, in order to come to a concept and to a claim which has allowed the new idea of Equal Opportunities to become visible.

The choice has been based on the contraposition of two symbols, feminine and masculine, which are very commonly known in the game of cards. King and Queen, K and Q, two figures, two values and together…they are powerful and
winning !
